Upper North Falls is the first waterfall along North Silver Creek in Silver Falls State Park, the massive curtain-style plunging waterfall drops into a wide creek bed that flows downstream to many other waterfalls.
The Hike:
The walk to Upper North Falls is considered an easy trail that is only 1.1 km (0.68 miles) in and back out, the trail is located under the bridge at the north parking lot. The walk to the falls is along the side of North Fork Silver Creek and the waterfall can be seen from most of the trail all the way in.
The Name:
The waterfall was named in the 1880s by a local photographer, the name comes from the waterfall being the uppermost waterfall along North Silver Creek.
Stats:
Upper North Falls is 65 feet (19.8 Meters) tall with an average width of 30 feet (9 Meters) and a max width of 60 feet (18 Meters). It’s a single-tier waterfall that drops 90 degrees. The water feeding the falls is North Siver Creek.
Getting There:
Getting there is easy and takes very little effort, just park at the North Falls Parking lot just off Silver Falls SE highway and take the trail under the bridge that you see from the parking lot.
