Takakkaw Falls is one of British Columbia’s most breathtaking natural attractions and one of the tallest waterfalls in Canada.
Its name, derived from the Cree language, means “it is magnificent”, a fitting description for this awe-inspiring cascade.

Takakkaw Falls is a 4 tiered waterfall that towers 992 feet (302 meters), the width depending on the season ranges from 75-150 feet (23-46 Meters). The water drops at an 85-degree pitch and a flow rate of 100-400 cubic feet per second. The main water source is the Daly Glacier located on Mount Daly.
The Hike:
Visitors can follow the trail to a viewing platform near the base of the falls where the full grandeur of the cascade can be appreciated, this takes about 40 minutes to complete, 1.6 km (1 mile) moderately challenging route is an out-and-back hike.
Adventurous hikers may even explore nearby trails that offer different perspectives of the falls and the surrounding landscape.

The main parking area is shared with other popular locations in the area, the Takakkaw Falls Parking Lot is located on Yoho Valley Road. (Warning: This road is closed from October to June)
