Mamquam Falls is part of the Mamquam River, which originates from the glacial peaks of the Coast Mountains. While it may not be as famous as some of BC’s larger waterfalls, Mamquam Falls offers an intimate experience for those seeking a tranquil retreat into nature.
The roar of the water echoes through the surrounding canyon, creating a sensory experience that is both invigorating and humbling. The falls are particularly spectacular during the spring and early summer months when snowmelt from the mountains feeds the river.
The Stats:
Mamquam Falls has a total drop of 62 ft (19 meters) with a width ranging from 20-30 ft (6-9 meters) depending on the season. This 90-degree Glacier waterfall runs at an average of 100 cubic feet per second during snowmelt season.
The Hike:
The trail to the falls is moderately challenging, making it suitable for hikers with some experience. Along the way, visitors are treated to the sights and sounds of the lush rainforest, where towering evergreens, moss-covered rocks, and the occasional wildlife encounter add to the allure of the journey.
Getting There:
Take the Mamquam River Forest Service road from the Sea-to-Sky highway until you reach Powerhouse Springs Road where you will continue to the parking area that is located just a short walk away from the falls. The drive from the highway is 5.8 km (3.6 miles) and will take about 12 minutes.
