Harrison Lookout sits on top of Hale Peak, used to help detect forest fires in the past, now its a location for serious hikers.

Harrison Lake Fire Lookout stands over 2,000 feet (650 meters) above Harrison Lake. Inside the lookout, you will find an old stove along with some furniture and a book to sign, don’t forget to sign it!

The Harrison Lake Fire Lookout was originally built in the early 20th century as part of a network of fire lookouts established across British Columbia. These lookouts were essential for spotting forest fires in remote areas before modern technologies like satellite imagery and aerial surveillance were available.

Over the decades, many of these structures have been abandoned or dismantled, but the Harrison Lake Fire Lookout remains a popular destination for serious hikers looking for some great views.

While the original structure has undergone renovations, its rustic charm and historical significance have been preserved.

The Hike:

The hike to the top of Hale Peak is no joke, this 1,105-foot (337 meter) elevation gain trail will provide stunning views of the area but also take away your stamina with its steep incline.

The trail is a 3.5 km (2.2 mile) out-and-back trail that is considered a hard route. the estimated time to complete the trail is about two hours for an average hiker.

Check yourself and your pets for ticks after as this area is heavily populated with them

Getting There:
