A place where two rivers come together and leave a colored conflux behind, The Fraser River and the Harrison River form a line, this line is great to see in person as the two water streams on a calm day will dance with each other.

The best time to see it is when the water levels are calm, going on a day where the water is rushing from both sides will not be as spectacular as seeing the rivers calm. We attempted it but did not get a great show as the water was rushing from both sides.

The Colors:

– Fraser River comes from silt and mud loosened and carried away by melting snow, more than a quarter of British Columbia water runoffs run into the Fraser River, which gives it the milky brown colour we see.

– Harrison River comes from glaciers that feed silt into the large lake above, which also gets carried into the Harrison River before meeting the Fraser River.

The two colours do blend with the water flow, the Fraser River and its high sediment win the color battle in the end.

Getting There:

Getting to the place in the main photo requires a boat or another water device like a paddleboard or canoe. The shoreside is native land that is not accessible. Start at Kilby South Trestle Beach and make your way down to where the Fraser River and Harrison River meet. You will find some parking at the railway when you arrive.
