Canmore Lookout offers a stunning view over the small town of Canmore, showcasing Ha Ling Peak, Grassi Lakes, the East End of Rundle Peak, and the mountain ridge across the Canmore Valley.
The lookout is situated at an elevation of 5,588 feet (1,703 meters), just above Grassi Lakes and next to Whitemans Pond, positioned between Rundle and Ha Ling Peaks.
The drive to Canmore Lookout is as remarkable as the view itself. Alberta is well known for its tall, snow-covered peaks and panoramic vistas.
The area provides ample parking, with popular hiking trails nearby:
1. Ha Ling Peak Trailhead: This 7.4 km (4.6-mile) trail is a challenging hike offering some of the best mountain peak views in the area.
2. East End of Rundle Trailhead: A 4.8 km (3-mile) trail popular for hiking, mountain biking, and snowshoeing.
3. Upper Grassi Lakes Trailhead: A 3.4 km (2.1-mile) moderate trail frequented by birdwatchers, hikers, and runners.
Getting There:
After crossing the Bow River Bridge, continue to Three Sisters Drive and then take the high-elevation Three Sisters Parkway. The parking lot next to the lake at the top is ideal, giving you plenty of time to explore.
